One woman was killed and another seriously injured early Saturday, after the car they were driving crashed into a brick wall, D.C. police said.
According to police, at about 1:35 a.m. a 2003 Hyundai was seen heading south in the 100 block of Division Avenue Northeast. Near the intersection with Ames Street Northeast, the car veered off the road and swerved into a wooden light pole on the southwest corner of the crossroads. The car ricocheted off the pole and struck a brick retaining wall. The front seat passenger died at the scene.
Police said the female driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
