Senior Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod says presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s choice of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate only reinforces the political differences between the two campaigns.
“I think it’s helped further define the race; I don’t think it’s shaken up the race,” Mr. Axelrod said on CNN’s “State of the Union,” his first stop on a Sunday-morning blitz of political talk shows.
Asked about the White House’s reaction to the Republican pick, which was announced Saturday, Mr. Axelrod said President Obama thinks Mr. Ryan is “a good person, a genial person, but his views are quite harsh.”
“I don’t think [Mr. Ryan’s views] are mainstream positions in the country,” Mr. Axelrod said.
