WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (AP) - Sam Hornish Jr. has won the pole for Saturday’s Nationwide Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International.
Hornish turned a lap at 122.454 mph to edge Carl Edwards for his first career NASCAR pole.
Paul Menard will start third and Hornish’s teammate Brad Keselowski fourth, giving Dodge two cars in the top four. The automaker, which fields two cars for Penske Racing in both Sprint Cup and Nationwide, announced Tuesday it was leaving NASCAR at season’s end.
Kyle Busch qualified fifth in his own car, the No. 54 Toyota of Kyle Busch Motorsports, and Joey Logano was sixth.
Series points leader Elliott Sadler, Justin Allgaier, Brian Scott and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. rounded out the top 10.
Danica Patrick, making her first NASCAR start at The Glen, qualified 23rd at 118.998 mph.
