NEW YORK — Nick Swisher has left the New York Yankees game against the Detroit Tigers on Sunday after walking in the third inning because of a tight left hamstring and will have a precautionary MRI. Entering Sunday’s game, Swisher was second in the AL with 23 RBI. He had a league-leading 15 extra-base hits.

• Struggling Yankees starter Freddy Garcia is going to the bullpen. Garcia was shifted to a relief role Sunday, a day after he gave up six runs to the Detroit Tigers in 1⅔ innings.
