WALTHAM, MASS. (AP) - Paul Pierce was back at practice for the Boston Celtics on Friday, a day after briefly leaving the regular-season finale with a sprained left big toe.
Pierce said it was a minor problem and he didn’t expect it to bother him in the first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks that starts Sunday.
Pierce left Thursday night’s game early in the first quarter and the Celtics said he was not likely to return, but he was back on the court late in the second quarter.
Ray Allen did not practice on Friday. Coach Doc Rivers said he didn’t know whether Allen would be able to play on Sunday. Allen has missed two weeks with a sore right ankle.
