NEW YORK (AP) - A judge for the U.S. International Trade Commission has ruled that Apple infringed a patent held by Motorola and dismissed the rest of Motorola’s claims.

The ITC’s six commissioners now have until August to review Tuesday’s ruling. If they don’t, the ruling stands.

Apple Inc. and Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. have accused each other of patent infringement in federal courts and the ITC. The ITC has the power to block imports of Apple products found in violation, as they are made abroad.

Google Inc. is buying Motorola for $12.5 billion. Google is interested in Motorola’s thousands of patents.

Apple says it’s glad the judge ruled in its favor in three of the four patents. Motorola also says it’s pleased.

These patent disputes often end up in settlements.
