OTTAWA (AP) - Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson isn’t sure what set off his tirade during Ottawa’s Game 6 loss to the New York Rangers.
Alfredsson said Tuesday he was embarrassed by his conduct and thinks it may have hurt his team. He refused to blame his recent concussion for the uncharacteristic outburst.
The veteran forward smashed a stick after taking a hit from New York’s John Mitchell in the third period Monday night and later stomped on a water bottle.
The Rangers won 3-2 to force Game 7 at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.
