After seven years as a couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are finally engaged.
Mr. Pitt’s manager, Cynthia Pett-Dante, confirmed the news to the Associated Press in an email Friday.
There isn’t a wedding date yet. The engagement “is a promise for the future,” Ms. Pett-Dante said.
Mr. Pitt, 48, and Miss Jolie, 36, have six children together, including three who are adopted.
“Their kids are very happy,” Ms. Pett-Dante said.
Mr. Pitt and Miss Jolie have been partners since they began a relationship while working on the film “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.”
Miss Jolie was briefly married to Billy Bob Thornton, but they divorced in 2003. She also was married to British actor Jonny Lee Miller before they divorced in 1999.
Mr. Pitt was previously married to Jennifer Aniston, but they divorced in 2005 after five years of marriage.
Miss Jolie won an Oscar for her role in 1999’s “Girl, Interrupted.” Mr. Pitt recently was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in last year’s “Moneyball.”
Green Day set to release three albums in five months
Rockers Green Day are to release a trilogy of albums over a five-month period starting later this year, the band announced Thursday.
The records, to be called “Uno,” “Dos” and “Tre,” will go on sale in September, November and next January, according to Agence France-Presse, and will be follow-ups to their Grammy-winning 2009 hit album “21st Century Breakdown.”
The unusual one-after-the-other release schedule - which comes as bands scramble with new models for releasing their music in the Internet age - is simply due to the fact that they are making lots of good music, they said.
“We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives. This is the best music we’ve ever written, and the songs just keep coming,” the band said on its website.
“Instead of making one album, we are making a three-album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels. We just can’t help ourselves. … We are going epic!” the band said.
Kinkade’s brother: Painter had relapsed into alcoholism
A family member said painter Thomas Kinkade battled alcoholism over the past several years and had a relapse just before his death at his home in Santa Clara County, Calif.
According to the Associated Press, Kinkade’s brother, Patrick, told the San Jose Mercury News that decades of attacks on Kinkade’s work and a split with his wife two years ago had taken a toll on the famous “Painter of Light.”
Kinkade died in Monte Sereno on April 6 at age 54 of what a spokesman has said was natural causes. An autopsy is pending.
A recording of a dispatcher involved in the response to his home said Kinkade had been drinking all night and was not moving.
Kinkade’s scenes of country gardens and pastoral landscapes led to a commercial empire that was said to fetch some $100 million a year in sales.
Johansson still ’paranoid’ over leaked nude photos
Scarlett Johansson acknowledges it still bothers her to think countless people have likely seen her naked.
The actress speaks out in the May issue of Vogue magazine about how private photos she took for then-husband Ryan Reynolds were leaked online when her email was hacked last year.
Miss Johansson talks about going out to dinner and feeling “paranoid” that people in the restaurant had seen her body.
Still, she says she doesn’t want pity and has coped by “tuning it all out,” the Associated Press reports. Because of that, she stopped following celebrity gossip and reading stories about herself.
She says she’s found that ignorance is bliss. She says she’s “way happier” and “more creative” now.
The May issue of Vogue goes on sale nationwide April 24.
Singer Mindy McCready welcomes second son
Mindy McCready is a mother for a second time.
Miss McCready and her boyfriend, David Wilson, welcomed their son Zayne on April 9. In a statement, Miss McCready called the boy a “blessing and a joy.”
The country singer and former “Celebrity Rehab” star said it was a “long and trying” pregnancy, the Associated Press reports. The statement said Miss McCready would not be doing interviews because of a court directive in the custody case over her first son, 6-year-old Zander.
Ms. McCready took Zander from her mother, Gayle Inge, the boy’s legal guardian, late last year. She fled to Arkansas without permission over what she called child abuse fears. Authorities eventually found Miss McCready and Mr. Wilson hiding in a residence without permission and took the boy into custody.
Zander’s status is unclear due to court privacy rules.
