The Washington Redskins continued on Tuesday to fortify their roster with the start of their offseason program approaching. They signed free agent safety Madieu Williams, signed cornerback Leigh Torrence for his second stint with the team and re-signed free agent defensive end Kedric Golston.
Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Williams, 30, started three games for San Francisco last year. The University of Maryland product is entering his ninth NFL season. He has 12 career interceptions and 382 solo tackles in stints with the 49ers, Minnesota and Cincinnati.
Torrence, 30, spent the last three seasons with the New Orleans Saints after playing 25 games with the Redskins from 2006-08. He has started only one of his 73 regular-season games in a seven-year career. He has two interceptions, 11 passes defended and 3.5 sacks. He also has 61 special teams tackles.
Golston, 28, has played all six of his NFL seasons in Washington. He thrived as a reserve in nine games in 2011 after losing his starting job to Stephen Bowen, a marquee free-agent acquisition last offseason.
Golston had 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble before missing the final seven games on injured reserve with a completely torn medial collateral ligament and partially torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
The Redskins are scheduled to begin their offseason conditioning program on Monday.
