Two days before Wisconsin Republicans go to the polls, GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney has picked up another key endorsement in the Badger State.
Freshman Sen. Ron Johnson announced on Sunday morning that he’s throwing his support behind Mr. Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, and said it’s time for other Republicans to exit the race so the party can focus all of its energy on defeating President Obama in November.
“It’s time to end this,” Mr. Johnson said on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” admonishing his fellow Wisconsin Republicans to “show that this is the time to bring this [primary] process to an end.”
Mr. Johnson’s endorsement comes just a few days after Rep. Paul Ryan, another Wisconsin Republican and darling of party conservatives, also came out in favor of Mr. Romney. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former President George H.W. Bush also endorsed Mr. Romney last week.
Wisconsin, along with Maryland and the District of Columbia, votes on Tuesday.
