WASHINGTON (AP) - Stephen Strasburg will pitch at least three more times this season.
Nationals manager Davey Johnson says he’ll vary Strasburg’s rest between four and five days, with an eye toward giving him a base of innings to build on for next season.
Strasburg, who returned to the major leagues after being sidelined by Tommy John surgery, allowed two hits in five innings Tuesday against Los Angeles.
The right-hander is scheduled to pitch again on Sunday against Houston on four days rest.
After that, he’s scheduled to pitch twice on five days rest, on Sept. 17 against Florida and Sept. 23 against Atlanta. It’s possible that Strasburg could make a final start on the last day of the season _ Sept. 28 at Florida on four days rest.
