ASHBURN, VA. (AP) - Washington Redskins safety LaRon Landry has been ruled out of Sunday’s season opener against the New York Giants because of a hamstring injury.
Mike Shanahan said Friday that Landry will not play, confirming what Landry said earlier in the week.
Landry pulled his right hamstring on Aug. 19 and aggravated the injury last weekend. Fifth-year veteran Reed Doughty will start in Landry’s place.
Shanahan also says tight end Chris Cooley is questionable. Cooley missed all of preseason with a sore, swollen knee.
