WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Nationals reactivated right-handed pitcher Stephen Strasburg from the 60-day disabled list in time for him to make Tuesday’s start against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Strasburg underwent Tommy John surgery a little more than a year ago. He’s made six rehab starts, and was 1-1 with a 3.54 ERA with 29 strikeouts and three walks.
Rain fell heavily through much of the day Tuesday, and Nationals manager Davey Johnson said that if the game was postponed, a day-night doubleheader would be scheduled for Wednesday _ and Strasburg would pitch the first game.
Johnson said he would be reluctant to start Strasburg on Tuesday if the game was delayed or if the field was questionable. He said that rookie Brad Peacock would follow Strasburg.
