TORONTO (AP) - Red Sox right-hander Josh Beckett left in the fourth inning of Monday’s game against the Blue Jays with a sprained right ankle.

Manager Terry Francona and trainer Mike Reinold came to the mound after Beckett threw a ball to Toronto third baseman Brett Lawrie. After a brief discussion, Beckett walked off the field without assistance and was replaced by right-hander Alfredo Aceves.

An All-Star for the third time this season, Beckett (12-5) came in having won his past three starts. He allowed three hits in 3 2-3 shutout innings, walked one and struck out six.

Before the game, Francona said he hoped to give Beckett an extra day of rest before his next two starts.
