SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA (AP) - A ruling party lawmaker says South Korean military websites have been hit by more than 2,770 hacking attempts in the past year.
Kim Ok-lee said in a statement Wednesday that no damage was reported and it’s not known where the attacks originated.
She says information provided by the Defense Ministry shows that websites belonging to it and the four major military branches received 2,772 hacking attempts between July 2010 and last month.
South Korea has blamed past cyberattacks on North Korea and on Internet addresses located in China.
North Korea has denied the accusations.
