Bristol Palin heckled while out in Los Angeles

Bristol Palin was the victim last week of verbal abuse by a 47-year-old heckler who called her “white trash” and her mother, Sarah Palin, a “whore.”

During a trip to the Saddle Ranch Chop House on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, the 20-year-old rode a jerky mechanical bull for several minutes before falling to the floor. Before Miss Palin got to her feet, Stephen Hanks, as identified by TMZ started yelling at her.

As Miss Palin walked over to the man, Mr. Hanks was videotaped saying, “Her mother is a [expletive] whore, she’s the devil.”

When Miss Palin got in his face, Mr. Hanks repeated, “Your mother [is] the [expletive] devil.”

“What did she do wrong?” Miss Palin asked.

“She lives, she breathes,” he replied. “If there was a hell … she gonna be there.”

When a young woman approached Mr. Hanks and told him to leave Miss Palin alone, he used the classic kindergarten “she started it” response.

She came up to me,” Mr. Hanks said of Miss Palin.

Mr. Hanks caught up with TMZ afterward and explained that he wasn’t a fan of the Palin family.

“It kind of felt good to get off my chest,” Mr. Hanks said.

After the incident took place, Miss Palin wrote on her Facebook fan page, “Always amazes me how evil people can be.”

Levi Johnston details RNC’s attempts to give him makeover

Life is tough, especially when the Republican National Committee forces you into a makeover.

That was the fate of 21-year-old Levi Johnston, the father of Bristol Palin’s toddler, Tripp. The author of a newly released book, “Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin’s Crosshairs,” Mr. Johnston sat down with CNN host Joy Behar Wednesday evening to promote the memoir.

During their odd and sometimes uncomfortable chat, Mr. Johnston gave Miss Behar a little insight into sheep hunting, an activity with which she was wholly unfamiliar.

Alluding to the book’s title, Miss Behar inquired about the first “deer in the headlights” moment the young man faced when his pregnant girlfriend’s mother announced her candidacy for vice president in August 2008. Mr. Johnston, who had to prepare for the GOP convention in St. Paul that month, told Miss Behar he had been sheep hunting with his dad prior to the big event.

“A sheep hunt? What do you mean a sheep hunt? They’re sitting there waiting for you to shoot them?” Miss Behar asked. “You were going to kill a ram?”

“For food. It’s a sport,” Mr. Johnston said.

“That’s crazy,” Miss Behar replied.

“We get back and I get a phone call, Sarah [Palin is] nominated for vice president. … We get back home, thrown into the RNC gear, we get on private planes and we land down,” Mr. Johnston said. “I [had a] mullet. The first thing they do is chop my hair. … They weren’t going to allow it.”

Mr. Johnston also dealt with RNC stylists asking him to shave, use “the spray tans, and [take care of] the fingernails.”

“They wanted me to get pedicures and stuff - I said ’no, no,’ ” Mr. Johnston said.

He said he refused the makeover demands but agreed to retire his mullet.

“[I had] the haircut and then I put on the … $80 socks and the fancy clothes and I shut up and smiled and waved and did what I was told [at the convention],” Mr. Johnston said.

Miss Behar, who had watched the televised convention, said Mr. Johnston appeared to be out of place.

“I agree with you, you did look like a deer in the headlights,” Miss Behar said. “But you also … you don’t even look like you; you look like a Republican senator.”

Miss Behar also asked Mr. Johnston why he frequently sets himself up for insults and embarrassment.

“Why do you open yourself up to scrutiny so much? Why do you do that?” Miss Behar asked.

The tongue-tied Mr. Johnston replied, “I tell everything in that book … I kind of got tired of people talking about my family. … It was time for me to … lay it all out there for everybody.”

“And make a few bucks while you’re at it, right?” Miss Behar interrupted.

“That’s always good,” Mr. Johnston conceded.

Lady Gaga attends fundraiser for President Obama

“Mother Monster” Lady Gaga attended a $35,800-per-couple fundraiser for President Obama in Northern California over the weekend. The 25-year-old Grammy winner didn’t sing, but she reportedly asked Mr. Obama a question during the Q&A, thanked him for all he’s done for the country, and read a letter about her late fan Jamey Rodemeyer.

“[Lady Gaga] thanked Obama for hosting his anti-bullying conference with Michelle Obama, and then made a general plea to everyone in the room, including the president, to do what they can to prevent bullying,” a source told ABC.

Mr. Obama reportedly talked about “his administration’s anti-bullying campaign and then more generally about the importance of values and who we are as Americans.”

Though ABC reports that the performance artist spoke with Mr. Obama for two minutes, the White House press pool report from the event states that it’s unclear whether the pop sensation and politician met up.

“[Mr. Obama] spoke for about 8 minutes, with Lady Gaga sitting front and center,” reads the report. “And although he never acknowledged her obvious presence, it seems likely the two crossed paths during greetings inside the house before the dinner.”

Last week, the pop singer tweeted that she would meet with Mr. Obama to discuss the bullying issue.

“I am meeting with our President,” Lady Gaga tweeted following the suicide of bullied fan Rodemeyer. “I will not stop fighting. This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey.”

After Rodemeyer’s suicide, Lady Gaga wrote that she thinks bullying should become a federal offense.

“Jamey Rodemeyer, 14 years old, took his life because of bullying,” Lady Gaga tweeted Wednesday. “Bullying must become be [sic] illegal. It is a hate crime.”

Rodemeyer, a 14-year-old gay male from Buffalo, made an “It Gets Better” YouTube video earlier this summer to urge outcasts and the bullied to keep going and brush off the mean kids.

“It gets better,” Rodemeyer advised YouTube users in May. “Look at me, I’m doing fine. I went to the Monster ball and now I’m liberated, so it gets better.”

Rodemeyer took his life a little more than a week ago. In his last blog posts he wrote about wanting to see his late great-grandmother and thanked Lady Gaga.
