WESTLAKE, OHIO (AP) - The NBA lockout is giving rookie Kyrie Irving a chance to heal and pursue his education.

Irving was the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft. He said at his youth basketball camp Saturday that the foot injury that limited him to 11 games last season as a Duke freshman needs another few months to fully heal. But he says he has no restrictions and has been cleared to play.

Irving has no plans to play overseas while the league’s owners and players negotiate a new labor agreement. On Friday, the league postponed training camps indefinitely and canceled 43 preseason games.

Irving said the Cavs may get together for voluntary workouts. He also taking classes this semester at Duke as he works toward a psychology degree.
