WASHINGTON (AP) - Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg has left his final home start of 2011 after four innings _ and after allowing four hits in one inning for the first time in his brief major league career, according to STATS LLC.
Strasburg gave up four singles and three runs _ two earned _ in the first inning against the Braves on Friday night. The right-hander then settled down, retiring 10 of the last 11 batters he faced.
In all, he allowed five singles, struck out three, walked none and left with Washington trailing 3-1.
Strasburg was making his fourth appearance of the season after coming back from reconstructive surgery on his right elbow. It was his 16th career start.
The Nationals plan for him to pitch once more this season: at the Marlins on Wednesday.
