LOUDON, N.H. (AP) - Tony Stewart called his last trip at New Hampshire a “dream weekend.” There was no reason to complain.
Stewart-Haas Racing pulled off its first career 1-2 start and finish. Ryan Newman won from the pole and Stewart qualified second and finished second.
Round 2 of the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship kicks off this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. If there’s ever a time for a repeat result, Sunday would be the day.
Stewart is coming off his first win of the season at Chicagoland Speedway and moved into second place in the points race. Newman is in seventh place and solid shape to make a run for the title over the final nine races.
Newman has 13 career top-10 finishes at New Hampshire. Stewart has 13 top-fives at New Hampshire and two career victories.
