LONDON (AP) - New Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra says her hometown of Christchurch is “still struggling” following the deadly earthquake in February.
The 24-year-old best-selling singer just left Christchurch for London a few days before the disaster hit Feb. 22. She says “people are still trying to get back up on their feet again.”
She was talking to The Associated Press about her new album “Paradiso.”
Westenra is returning home in November for a national tour to support the worst-hit areas. She has also been invited to sing at the final of the Rugby World Cup, which is now under way in New Zealand.
