PARIS (AP) - France has chosen “La guerre est declaree” (“War is declared”) to represent it at next year’s Oscars.

Each year, countries are invited to submit a film to be considered for the Academy Award for the best foreign language film.

A committee at the National Center for Cinematography chose the film Friday.

“La Guerre est declaree” is about the difficulties faced by a couple whose son is seriously ill. It was directed by Valerie Donzelli and has won a handful of prizes in France.
