A man found dead in a burning car in Capitol Heights in August was killed in the District, leading Prince George’s County police to turn the homicide investigation over to the Metropolitan Police Department, officials said Wednesday.
Prince George’s County police responded to the 800 block of Balsamtree Place at about 5 a.m. Aug. 31 for a vehicle fire. Once the fire was extinguished, investigators found the body of Antwain Elisha Henderson, 34, inside the car.
County police said investigators had determined Mr. Henderson, of the 5600 block of Coolidge Street, in Capitol Heights, was killed in the District. Neither county police nor MPD officials had further information on the homicide.
