DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies selected the contract of left-hander Drew Pomeranz from Double-A Tulsa ahead of his major league debut Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds.
Pomeranz was one of the key pieces in the trade this summer that sent ace Ubaldo Jimenez to the Cleveland Indians.
The Rockies also selected the contract of infielder Thomas Field from Tulsa. Field started Sunday in place of Troy Tulowitzki, who sat out with a sore hip.
To make room on the roster, the team placed outfielder Ryan Spilborghs (plantar fasciitis right foot) on the 60-day disabled list and designated catcher Matt Pagnozzi for assignment.
The 21-year-old Pomeranz turned in two scoreless starts for Tulsa, striking out seven in 10 innings.
