BATON ROUGE, LA. (AP) - LSU starting linebacker Ryan Baker was benched for the home opener against Northwestern State because of a violation of team rules.
While LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette is not disclosing what Baker did, he says his actions were exclusively a team violation that have nothing to do with NCAA rules, and that his benching is not expected to last more than one game.
Baker, a senior, was credited with four tackles in second-ranked LSU’s 40-27 season-opening victory over Oregon a week ago.
Sophomore Lamin Barrow, who had two tackles against Oregon, replaced Baker in the starting lineup Saturday night against the Demons, who play in the Football Championship Subdivision.
