KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — NATO on Sunday said two of its service members were killed in an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan.
NATO did not provide any further details in its statement. It said the attack occurred on Saturday.
Their deaths bring October’s toll of foreign troops killed to six, with a total of 460 deaths so far this year.
Afghan police said eight insurgents and a police officer were killed in a separate incident in southwestern Nimroz province. Gen. Abdul Jabar Perdali, the Nimroz provincial police chief, said the gunbattle took place Saturday and lasted five hours.
