VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA (AP) - The Vancouver Canucks claimed right wing Dale Weise off waivers from the New York Rangers on Tuesday.

Weise was pointless with 19 penalty minutes in 10 games with the Rangers last season, but spent most of the year with their American Hockey League affiliate, where the 23-year-old had 18 goals, 38 points and 73 penalty minutes in just 47 games.

The 6-foot-2 Winnipeg native was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2008 draft by the Rangers, and is expected to compete for playing time on the Canucks fourth line.
