THE EVENT: On Tuesday, Apple Inc. is holding an iPhone-related media event at its Cupertino, Calif., headquarters. It has been 15 months since Apple started selling the iPhone 4, and the company is expected to trot out a new iPhone at the event.

THE GADGET: If a new iPhone is revealed, it’s expected to run the newest version of Apple’s iOS mobile software, iOS 5, and its forthcoming iCloud content storage service. A new iPhone may be thinner and include a better camera.

THE PRESENTER: Tim Cook, Apple’s recently appointed CEO, is expected to take the lead on Tuesday. Cook, formerly Apple’s chief operating officer, has run the company since co-founder and now former CEO Steve Jobs took medical leave in January. Jobs formally resigned in August.
