HOUSTON — Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson is nursing an injured right hamstring, and his availability for Sunday’s game against Oakland is uncertain as the team seeks other medical opinions.
Coach Gary Kubiak said Monday that Johnson will “miss some time,” though he said that could range from 3-4 days to a “few weeks.”
Johnson went down without getting touched in the second quarter of Houston’s 17-10 win over Pittsburgh on Sunday. He had tests after the game, and Kubiak says the team evaluating the injury. Kubiak says the team will seek “a couple of different” opinions over the next two days.
Kubiak also said backup running back Ben Tate is day to day with a groin injury. Houston (3-1) plays Oakland (2-2) on Sunday.
Roethlisberger hopes to play Sunday
PITTSBURGH — Ben Roethlisberger’s preference would be to play next Sunday when the Pittsburgh Steelers host Tennessee. His body might have other ideas.
The quarterback was scheduled to undergo an MRI on his left foot on Monday after injuring the foot on Pittsburgh’s final drive in Sunday’s 17-10 loss to Houston.
Roethlisberger isn’t the only Steeler whose status is uncertain. Defensive end Aaron Smith (foot) and running back Rashard Mendenhall (hamstring) also left the game early.
Three defensive TDs propel Ravens
BALTIMORE — The Ravens set a franchise record with three scores on defense in defeating the New York Jets 34-17 on Sunday night.
Jameel McClain took a fumble by quarterback Mark Sanchez 6 yards for a score on New York’s first offensive play, Jarret Johnson scored on a 26-yard fumble return and Lardarius Webb put the Ravens up by 17 points in the third quarter by taking an interception 73 yards into the end zone.
Baltimore held New York to 150 yards and seven first downs in taking over sole possession of first place in the AFC North.

• JETS: New York linebacker Bryan Thomas is out for the season with a torn left Achilles tendon after suffering the injury in the team’s 34-17 loss at Baltimore on Sunday. Thomas, who led the defense with six sacks last season, is due to become a free agent after this season.
• VIKINGS: Even after an 0-4 start in which Donovan McNabb has struggled to move the offense, Minnesota coach Leslie Frazier says it still isn’t time to turn things over to rookie Christian Ponder. The Vikings have the 31st ranked passing offense in the NFL. And McNabb is ranked 30th in yards passing and 22nd in completion percentage.
• TITANS: Safety Chris Hope will need surgery on his broken left forearm and likely will be out four to six weeks. Hope was hurt early in the Titans’ 31-13 win at Cleveland on Sunday. Jordan Babineaux replaced Hope and picked off a pass he returned 97 yards for a touchdown.
• BEARS: Chicago offensive lineman Chris Spencer has a broken bone in his right hand. Spencer suffered a “small fracture” early in Sunday’s Victory over Carolina. He returned in the second half, and coach Lovie Smith said Spencer “hopefully” will be ready for Monday night’s game against NFC North rival Detroit.
• BROWNS: Cleveland Pro Bowl center Alex Mack will undergo surgery to have his appendix removed. Mack, who has started 36 straight games since joining the Browns in 2009, played in Sunday’s game against Tennessee. There is no time frame on his return.
• PACKERS: Suspended Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly was jailed Monday after his third drug arrest in three years. Jolly was charged Saturday with possession of a compound containing codeine. He also was charged with tampering with evidence for attempting to conceal the substance from investigators, according to records.
