Gaga’s fundraiser fashion ’intimidating’ to Obama
“Mother Monster” Lady Gaga makes many people uncomfortable. Even President Obama.
Speaking to the Human Rights Campaign, a gay advocacy organization, over the weekend, Mr. Obama spoke about seeing the 25-year-old pop sensation and gay rights advocate last week at a campaign fundraiser in Northern California.
“I appreciate the chance to join you tonight. I also took a trip out to California last week, where I held some productive bilateral talks with your leader, Lady Gaga,” the president said of the Grammy Award winner.
Mr. Obama seemed puzzled and made uneasy by Lady Gaga’s outfit for last week’s fundraiser.
“She was wearing 16-inch heels,” Mr. Obama said of Lady Gaga’s footwear for the presidential gathering. “She was 8 feet tall. It was a little intimidating.”
Even Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, famous for shamelessly conducting business in hoodies and other casual attire, dressed up and wore a tie to meet the president.
A known anti-bullying spokeswoman and gay rights activist, Lady Gaga showed up to Mr. Obama’s $35,800-per couple fundraiser to lobby for anti-bullying policies and enforcement. In September, she tweeted about her devastation over the suicide of a gay Buffalo teen who ended his life in the aftermath of relentless school bullying.

Bristol Palin’s heckler apologizes for outburst
Stephen Hanks, whose claim to fame is shouting obscenities at Bristol Palin and calling her mother, Sarah Palin, a “whore” at the Saddle Ranch Chop House in Los Angeles last month, regrets bullying Miss Palin.
In a statement released by his lawyer, Mr. Hanks, 47, apologized for screaming at Miss Palin in the Sunset Boulevard bar.
“Having had an opportunity to view the camera footage of the incident this past Thursday, … I have come to the conclusion that no matter what my feelings are towards Sarah Palin, I should not have expressed them towards her daughter, Bristol Palin,” the statement read. “I am very passionate about politics, and believe in equality for all Americans. I expressed my feelings in an improper manner in the heat of the moment, and allowed my emotions to get the better of me.”
Last week, video footage of the heated exchange between Miss Palin and Mr. Hanks exploded on the Internet and caused many to condemn Mr. Hanks - for verbally abusing a woman less than half his age - and Miss Palin - for asking Mr. Hanks if he is gay.
Mr. Hanks may have issued a statement of regret over his fighting words, but he wasn’t so apologetic in the immediate aftermath of the yelling match. After the disagreement with Miss Palin, Mr. Hanks chatted exclusively with TMZ and said it “felt good to get [his feelings] off [his] chest.”
When media reports focused on Miss Palin’s questioning of Mr. Hanks’ sexuality, the young woman was chastised for hinting at anti-gay sentiment. Miss Palin’s representative bounded to her defense and declared homophobia accusations against her “unfounded.”
“Bristol Palin was approached in a confrontational and inappropriate manner. … Bristol responded to the unprovoked verbal assault by calmly standing her ground and defending her family,” a statement from a Palin family attorney reads. “The situation ended with no incident, and accusing her of homophobia is completely unfounded and totally misstates her views.”
Some suspected that the dispute, which was filmed during shooting for Miss Palin’s new reality show, was staged for the series. Last week, Mr. Hanks told TMZ that he was not a plant nor an actor, and his lawyer reiterated this in a statement.
“Mr. Hanks would like to clarify that, to his knowledge, this incident was not ’set up’ for Bristol Palin’s forthcoming reality show, as has been suggested in various media reports. In fact, Mr. Hanks was not even aware that cameras were filming the exchange.”

Elizabeth Hurley engaged to Australian cricket player
“Bedazzled” bombshell Elizabeth Hurley is engaged to Australian cricketer Shane Warne, her boyfriend of 10 months, according to Us Weekly.
The 46-year-old actress reportedly accepted Mr. Warne’s proposal after he got down on one knee at the Old Course Hotel in Scotland over the weekend. The online celebrity news site reported that the Aussie popped the question at dinner inside the hotel’s Road Hole Restaurant.
Miss Hurley tweeted about the engagement Saturday, informing followers, “Thanks for all your congratulations. Here’s a pic of us about to go to Dunhill dinner in St Andrews.”
This will be the second marriage for both Mr. Warne and Miss Hurley. In June, Miss Hurley finalized her divorce with textile heir and husband of four years, Arun Nayar.
Around Christmastime last year, news reports surfaced that the “Gossip Girl” cast member was having an affair with Mr. Warne. News of the World published photos and footage of Miss Hurley and Mr. Warne smooching and reported that the two had spent a night together at London’s Bentley Hotel. Miss Hurley tried to explain via Twitter that her marriage to Mr. Nayar had been over for quite some time.
“Not a great day. For the record, my husband Arun and I separated a few months ago. Our close family & friends were aware of this,” Miss Hurley tweeted on Dec. 12.
Whether or not Miss Hurley was unfaithful to her ex-spouse, she knows a little something about cheaters. The British beauty famously ended her 13-year romance with “Notting Hill” actor Hugh Grant after he reportedly solicited the services of a female prostitute, Estella Marie Thompson (aka Divine Brown). They split in 2000 and Miss Hurley gave birth to a baby boy, the product of a relationship with businessman Steve Bing, in 2002. She started dating Mr. Nayar late that year and the two married in 2007.
