NASHVILLE, TENN. (AP) - Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber was fined $2,500 by the NHL on Friday for boarding Vancouver forward Jannik Hansen on Thursday night.
Weber was assessed minor penalties for boarding and unsportsmanlike conduct in the third period of Nashville’s 5-1 loss.
“I didn’t like this hit and I expressed that to Shea Weber. I feel it was an illegal hit,” said Brendan Shanahan, the NHL’s senior vice president of player safety. “I would like to see less force in that situation and that is why he’s being fined.”
