A 22-year-old Metrobus passenger was fatally shot overnight in Southeast, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Investigators are not sure whether the passenger, Demetrius E. Thompson, of Southeast, was shot on the W4 bus or outside of it, said police spokesman Officer Araz Alali. Officers found Mr. Thompson lying in the street, in the 2100 block of Alabama Avenue, shortly after midnight Thursday.

Police have no suspect descriptions available.

Metro officials said the bus, which was traveling from Anacostia to the Deanwood Metro station, has video surveillance.

“The bus is camera equipped so we will be passing that onto MPD,” Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said.
This is the 92nd homicide of the year. There were 106 homicides this time last year.
