ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GA. (AP) - Michael Thompson played just as well in stronger wind at Sea Island for another 5-under 65 that gave him the early lead Friday in the McGladrey Classic.
Thompson had a two-shot lead over another guy who enjoys blustery conditions _ Louis Oosthuizen, who honed his game along the shores of South African and captured the British Open last year at St. Andrews. Oosthuizen had a 67.
Webb Simpson was among those playing in the afternoon. He shared the first-round lead as he tries to move ahead of Luke Donald on the money list.
Thompson was at 10-under 130 on the Seaside course. He is No. 116 on the money list and should be safe to keep his card, though a start like this can only help.
