SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO (AP) - The governor of Puerto Rico has signed a bill that will outlaw the use of cellphones while driving unless a handsfree device is used.
Gov. Luis Fortuno signed the bill Tuesday but the law will not go into effect until January 2013. Those found to be violating the law can be fined $50.
A study has found that seven of 10 drivers in the U.S. territory occasionally talk on a cellphone while driving.
