PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLA. (AP) - Steve Stricker still has the longest active cut streak on the PGA Tour.
Stricker was considered to have missed the cut at the BMW Championship last month when he withdrew after the second round because of a neck injury. There was no cut at the tournament, although the tour said the streak ended because he did not get official money.
The tour since has reviewed its records and determined that Stricker still gets credit for making the cut.
Officials say for a tournament that has a cut, a player must be among the top 70 and ties through two rounds. If he withdraws or disqualifies after that, it counts as a cut made. For a tournament that has no cut, a player only has to finish the first round.
The BMW Championship, part of the FedEx Cup playoffs, only had a 70-man field.
Stricker’s streak is at 42 consecutive tournaments, the longest active streak. The record belongs to Tiger Woods, who made the cut in 142 straight tournaments over seven years.
