COLUMBUS, OHIO (AP) - Ohio State says interim coach Luke Fickell will remain on Urban Meyer’s staff and lead the Buckeyes in a their bowl game.
Meyer, the former Florida coach and native Buckeye, was officially hired Monday by Ohio State, a program with a glittering past that has suffered through a difficult year of NCAA violations, suspensions and a 6-6 record.
The university scheduled a 5:15 p.m. EST news conference to introduce Meyer.
In a statement released moments before the news conference, the school said Meyer would receive a six-year contract that pays $4 million annually, plus another $2.4 million total in “retention payments.”
