SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. (AP) - Manfred Schellscheidt, the winningest soccer coach in Seton Hall’s history, is stepping down after 24 seasons.
The school announced Schellscheidt’s retirement Monday.
Under Schellscheidt, the Pirates qualified for the NCAA tournament nine times, won two Big East championships and reached the conference title game seven times. Seton Hall advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2001.
The 70-year-old Schellscheidt leaves with an overall record of 232-177-48, which includes a 104-85-16 record in the Big East. Five of his players were named All-America.
