One person was killed and five others injured Thanksgiving Day when a car struck a group of people outside a Home Depot in Hyattsville, police and fire officials said.

A driver and passenger were in a car traveling through the parking lot when the driver lost control and struck a group of day laborers, said Prince George’s County police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson.

The crash happened Thursday afternoon in the Home Depot, in the 3300 block of East West Highway.

One of the five hurt has life-threatening injuries, said Prince George’s County Fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady.

WJLA-TV quotes Hyattsville Police as saying the driver of the striking vehicle passed out behind the wheel before striking the men.
