FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Raymond Taylor led five Florida Atlantic players in double figures to help the Owls pull away from George Mason 80-75 in overtime on Saturday night.
Florida Atlantic (2-3) led 38-37 before going on a 19-8 run to take a 57-45 lead with 5:47 left in the second half. But George Mason fought back, tying the game 66-66 at the end of regulation. Florida Atlantic outscored George Mason 14-9 during the overtime period, scoring eight of those points in the paint and six more off second chance opportunities.
Pablo Bertone scored 12 points, Greg Gantt added 11, Kore White had 14 and Omari Grier 13 for Florida Atlantic.
Vertrail Vaughns led George Mason (2-2) with 21 points and Ryan Pearson chipped with 19 as both players logged more than 40 minutes of floor time.
Florida Atlantic outshot George Mason 47.3-45.3 percent but the Owls lost the rebounding battle 42-33.
