U.S. Park Police have released the name of a man they would like to speak with in connection with gunfire reported near the White House on Friday night.
Investigators would like to interview Oscar Ramiro Ortega, 21, address unknown, Sgt. David Schlosser said late Saturday.
Police found an abandoned vehicle near the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge after the reported gunfire at 16th Street and Constitution Avenue Northwest. Sgt. Schlosser said items recovered from the vehicle led them to Mr. Ortega, who has multiple tattoos.
The Secret Service reported Friday that witnesses saw the vehicle driver get out and run across the bridge toward Arlington. The agency said an AK-47 assault rifle was recovered.
Sgt. Schlosser said only one vehicle was involved Friday, not two as initially reported.
Authorities say the White House did not appear to have been the focus.
