SAN DIEGO (AP) - Michael Bush plunged 2 yards for a touchdown to give the Oakland Raiders a 7-3 lead over the San Diego Chargers in the first quarter Thursday night.
The Raiders got off to a slow start behind quarterback Carson Palmer, with their first two possessions ending in a punt and a turnover on downs in his second start and third appearance since joining the team.
Palmer was 2 for 4 with 48 yards in the period. The Raiders have lost two straight.
Bush had 13 carries for 78 yards in the opening quarter, when wide receiver Jacoby Ford sustained a foot injury on the touchdown drive. He was helped off the field and was questionable to return.
Chargers tackle Marcus McNeill, who already had a neck injury, sustained a stinger on San Diego’s second possession. He was carted off and was doubtful to return.
San Diego’s Philip Rivers was 2 for 6 for 32 yards.
Nick Novak kicked a 20-yard field goal for the Chargers, who have lost three in a row.
Both teams were playing on short rest, each having lost Sunday.
