SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Microsoft Corp. is near a deal to buy Internet telephone service Skype in a deal that could be worth about $8.5 billion.
Spokesmen for Microsoft and Skype declined comment on the report late Monday. The Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, said the deal could be announced as soon as Tuesday.
