PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Atlanta Braves pitcher Derek Lowe has limped off the mound with a blister on his right foot after allowing his first two hits in the seventh inning against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Lowe took a no-hitter into the seventh Friday night and got two strikes against Shane Victorino to start the inning before trotting off the mound toward center field, apparently trying to shake off the blister. Victorino broke up the no-hit bid with a single to left on the next pitch.
Atlanta trainers visited the mound but Lowe remained in the game. The next batter, Placido Polanco, hit a ground-rule double and Lowe was done.
Eric O’Flaherty relieved and struck out the side. The Braves won 5-0, overcoming Cliff Lee’s 16 strikeouts for Philadelphia.
