A D.C. man who burglarized a Northwest home and taunted his victims by posting a photograph of himself with their stolen belongings on Facebook was sentenced to 44 months in prison Wednesday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District said.

Rodney Knight Jr., 19, pleaded guilty in February to a charge of second-degree burglary in the break-in. He also pleaded guilty to an unrelated charge of carrying a pistol without a license. He was sentenced to 27 months in prison for the burglary charge, an additional 17 months on the weapons charge.

Authorities say Knight broke into a Northwest home on Dec. 10 and took a number of items, including two laptop computers, a winter coat and about $400 in cash.

He used one of the stolen computers to photograph himself wearing the stolen coat and displaying the cash. He then posted the photograph of himself on one of the victims’ Facebook pages.

The weapons charge stemmed from a Jan. 2 incident during which authorities say police saw Knight in the rear alley of the 2800 block of Dunbar Street SE. When Knight saw the officers, he clutched his waistband and began running. Police chased him and saw him toss a gun to the ground.
