OPINION:
Over the past few weeks, I have read article after article and heard many comments about how the Tea Party is a group of right-wing radicals.
I read that one person said, “It’s impossible for anyone to strike a deal for the budget with the crazy Tea Party.” When I hear comments like these, I laugh because those people are so wrong. The Tea Party is not crazy or even very different from the rest of the Republican Party. The liberals shake in their boots at the mention of the Tea Party because they see it as a new grass-roots movement. If they ever looked twice, they would see that this alleged “third party” is simply a movement of regular conservatives who decided to run under a different name and with a renewed focus.
The Tea Partyers’ views are not even radical. They feel that the government needs to cut back on big-government spending. Is this any different from the views of other conservatives? The Tea Party is not group of “Republicans on steroids” but rather normal conservatives who are trying to fix the government.
