CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Kyle Busch says he showed a lack of judgment in driving a borrowed Lexus 128 mph in a 45 mph zone.
The NASCAR driver was cited for careless and reckless driving and speeding when he was stopped Tuesday in the nearly $400,000 bright yellow Lexus. The high-performance vehicle is a loaner and teammate Denny Hamlin drove it around the state the day before Busch got his ticket.
Busch apologized several times Thursday during a meeting with reporters at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He also repeatedly called it a lack of judgment that would not happen again.
Busch is a two-time winner this season ranked third in the Sprint Cup standings. He’s on probation through June 15 for an incident with Kevin Harvick. NASCAR has said it will not take action against Busch for the speeding ticket.
