LOS ANGELES (AP) - Disney Channel star Chelsea Kane is in third place on “Dancing With the Stars.”

The 22-year-old actress learned during the season finale Tuesday that she had fallen short of her chance for the mirrorball trophy. Fellow finalists Kirstie Alley and Hines Ward are competing for the title.

Kane was a consistent high-scorer all season, and judge Carrie Ann Inaba called her “the one with the most consistent technique.”

Kane and professional partner were one point away from perfect during their last three dances.

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Kirstie Alley, Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward each earned perfect scores for their final performances Tuesday on “Dancing With the Stars.”

Judges’ scores are combined with viewer votes to determine the winner.

Ward and Kane came into the season finale tied with 59 points out of 60. Alley had 54 points.

Wendy Williams, Kendra Wilkinson, Sugar Ray Leonard and the rest of the celebrity contestants eliminated from the hit ABC show earlier in the season brought their sometimes stunning, sometimes wacky moves back to the ballroom for the season finale.

The show opened with an all-cast routine and the Black Eyed Peas singing their new single, “Don’t Stop the Party,” to an energized audience.

Tuesday’s episode was punctuated with musical performances. Besides the Peas, the Go-Go’s played their classic “We Got the Beat” for a frenzied dance routine, and Josh Groban sang “You Raise Me Up” while Petra Nemcova danced. Sara Evans was also to perform.

Famed sports announcer Michael Buffer called Leonard and pro wrestler Chris Jericho to the dance floor for a tough-guy dance-off. Wilkinson reprised her sexy, booty-and-bosom-shaking cha-cha, then nearly fell off the judges’ table when she finished. Radio personality Mike Catherwood, who was the first contestant dismissed this season, poked fun at his lack of dancing skills and stripped down to a leotard during his goofy routine.

Williams didn’t take to the dance floor, instead interviewing herself during a segment where she said Alley would “be a perfect drinking partner.”
