DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Red Wings have made a change on their coaching staff.

The team announced Thursday that assistant coach Brad McCrimmon won’t be back next season. McCrimmon’s contract expired last week when Detroit was eliminated by the San Jose Sharks in their Western Conference semifinal.

McCrimmon was one of Mike Babcock’s assistants for three seasons after being an assistant with the Atlanta Thrashers, Calgary Flames and New York Islanders.

He was a Red Wings defenseman from 1990-93 during his 18-year career with six NHL teams.
