CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA (AP) - Space shuttle Endeavour is almost at its destination.

Endeavour closed to within several miles of the International Space Station early Wednesday. The two space commanders exchanged greetings and said they couldn’t wait to see each other.

Endeavour is making the next-to-last voyage for the space shuttle program. It’s carrying a $2 billion particle physics detector for the space station, the most expensive science experiment ever to fly into orbit.

Shuttle commander Mark Kelly and his five crewmates will spend nearly two weeks at the space station. Kelly is married to wounded Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was at her husband’s launch Monday.
