IOWA CITY, IOWA (AP) - Flav’s Fried Chicken may be gone, but its debts aren’t forgotten.

A food distribution company has filed a lawsuit against the now-closed Clinton restaurant founded by reality television star Flavor Flav, claiming his ex-business partner Nicolo Cimino owes more than $12,000 for past food shipments.

Flav’s Fried Chicken opened with much fanfare in January but closed in April after Cimino and the former rapper cut ties and accused each other of mismanagement. Some employees had complained their paychecks were bouncing.

The lawsuit filed in Johnson County by Iowa City-based Hawkeye Foodservice Distribution, Inc. was first reported by The Gazette of Cedar Rapids. The company is asking a judge to order Cimino to pay the outstanding balance of $12,153 plus interest and attorney’s fees.

Cimino didn’t immediately return a phone message.
