CROMWELL, Conn. _ Bubba Watson says he’s not ready to become the face of American golf.

Watson spoke Tuesday at the TPC River Highlands, the course where he won his first PGA Tour title last June. Since then, Watson has won twice: at Torrey Pines in January, and at the Zurich Classic in April.

Watson, 32, joked that while he has a very pretty face, he doesn’t see himself as the next great American golfer. He says while his golf game is “steam rolling in the right direction,” he believes golf has entered an era where there will be one dominant golfer on the U.S. scene in the near future.

He says his goal is to get more than 10 wins on Tour before he retires.
